Sierra Leone: NATIONAL TELECOMMUNICATIONS COMMISSION TYPE APPROVAL LABELLING

On March 24th, NATCOM published the Label Requirements Guidelines. The guidelines come in consistency with Section 9 (2)of the Electronic Communications Regulations 2020

Here is a sample of the label to be affixed

TAN= Type Approval Number
YYYY= Year of Certification (Four digits)
PCN= Product Category Number (Three digits)
UTAN= Unique Type Approval Number (Four digits)

Sierra leone: The Telecommunications Electronic Communication Equipment Type Approval Regulations 2020

Sierra Leone NATCOM published on its website the Telecommunication Electronic Communication Equipment Type Approval Regulations (2020). This publication comes as an outcome of the consultation process launched in 2019.

The regulation states that labelling is required but we need to wait for specific guidelines to be issued in the coming weeks

Sierra Leone began a three-day lockdown on April 06, 2020 in order to stem the spread of Coronavirus.

Our contact at the NATCOM assured  Realtime that its activity wouldn’t be impacted in regards to Type Approvals, as all departments will still have staff that can support the process. They also informed us that they could effectively work remotely from their home.
