As an outcome of the type approval process, Kenya CA used to issue a provisional letter valid only for 6 months then subsequently the applicant would have to apply for a certificate.
Realtime received the information that CA is nowadays issuing a one-off certificate with a permanent validity.
There is no official announcement from CA Kenya but Realtime verified the information and the effective date of this change is believed to be mid July 2021;

The proposed specification defines the minimum features and technical requirements that mobile cellular devices sold in Kenya must meet. The requirements for Type Approval of mobile devices are summarized at Annex 1: of the guidelines.
The proposed guidelines obligate vendors and manufacturers to ensure consumers buy mobile cellular devices that meet approved standards. The draft guidelines are available on the Authority’s website and window for comments is open until 23rd April 2021
