Namibia CRAN: NOTICE OF INTENTION TO AMEND REGULATIONS IN RESPECT OF TYPE APPROVAL AND TECHNICAL STANDARDS FOR TELECOMMUNICATIONS EQUIPMENT

Namibia CRAN gazetted  on October 31st, 2018 its intention to amend regulations in regard to Type Approval and Technical Standards for Telecommunications Equipment published under General Notice No. 22 dated 30 January 2015.
The Authority invites the public to submit comments in writing to the Authority within 30 days from the date of publication of this notice in the Gazette. Deadline is then 29 November 2018.

The main changes proposed by CRAN are:

1- Type approval certificate are to become per equipment: initial certificate holder will loose the exclusivity to use the certificate
2- CRAN commits to maintain a public registry of approved  and exempted devices. CRAN already maintains such information on the database but it lacks regularity. There is no indication on information to be disclosed nor frequency of such publication.
3- Fees will be increased by 15% in average

Colombia ANE publishes a consultation for unlicensed band

ANE, Agencia Nacional del Spectro ANE has published in 5th of April a public consultation related to the update of unlicensed radio spectrum of Colombia.

CANADA: Consultation RSS-220, Issue 1, Amendment 1, – Devices Using Ultra-Wideband (UWB) Technology

The Department of Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada is seeking comments on the consultation of RSS-220, Issue 1, Amendment 1 “Devices Using Ultra-Wideband (UWB) Technology”.  This amendment sets out the transition period for the certification, manufacture, importation, distribution, lease, offer for sale or selling of vehicular radar devices using ultra-wideband technology in the 22 29 GHz frequency band.
